It's an island that runs parallel to the upper east side of the city. There is a tram that goes to the island that leaves from 59th street (that's the best part) and it just costs a subway ride on your metro card. It's a nice walk around the island and there are places to sit down as well as a Starbucks in the middle. There are people there all the time so there are no yichud problems.

Tips

  • Don't come here on a cold night.
  • It is possible to drive to the island, over the Roosevelt Island Bridge. Parking is nearly impossible. [1]

Hours Subject to change. Always verify.

All night. I think the trams run until 2am

Directions

Take the aerial tram from 59th street on the upper east side right next to the Queensboro bridge.
